22nd June, 2014...Adonia visits the port of Barrow!

What superb weather we are having at the moment....near perfect temperatures and a cooling breeze...why would anyone want to go abroad (can't get a passport now anyway!).

Frankie coming out in support of football at the moment...can't think why...our footballers are over paid and think they are celebrities instead of sportsmen...far better to support rugby or tennis. I watched some superb sportsmanship on Friday evening...Barrow Girls Football Trials! Whoever is saying that state schools need to increase their levels of competitive sport so that British athletes don't always come from the private education sector needs to look at the TRUE picture of what is happening 'sportswise' in our schools!

Had fun in the forest with our year six kids and team this week and they were VERY competitive...especially the teachers!

We went down to the docks this morning to look at the P&O Cruise ship Adonia, that was in berth for 24 hours...what an impressive sight!

Couldn't drag the SteveHillmanPhotography camera away....the wedding that was booked for this weekend cancelled a few months ago so he was kicking his heels, not earning his keep!

We spoke to a lovely guy down here, who piloted the cruiser in last evening, and he explained how the gate system works... she is sailing back out tonight after 7pm and will be passing Roa island just after that...we will be there!

That area of the docks is a prime site for some waterfront apartments, shops, cafes etc to be built, but it isn't quite there yet.....it's a stunning area that gets forgotten because of all our other fantastic attractions...better start saving up!

Haytiming seems to have started early this year....the heat and the birdsong reminds me of.....

 Only reapers, reaping early
In among the bearded barley,
Hear a song that echoes cheerly
From the river winding clearly,
Down to tower'd Camelot:
And by the moon the reaper weary,
Piling sheaves in uplands airy,
Listening, whispers "
'Tis the fairy
Lady of Shalott."

Remember that, all you BGGS students out there!

Look at that beautiful sky...hope it lasts until AFTER our WW1 event on Thursday!

It's the little things that matter, isn't it...someone said something to me this week that picked me right back up off the floor and made me realise that I AM strong enough to ignore the destructive people out there....

....thank you that person!
