1st December, 2012

There was a hard frost on Wednesday night, and these first photos were taken on Thursday morning (29th November). Steve Hillman came down to the Abbey with his camera just in case he missed anything!!
Saturday lunchtime, and it was lovely and sunny, but the frost hadn't gone from the sides of the ampitheatre because the sun had already gone down behind the hill by this time. The thermometer on the car was reading 1 degree celcius!

Frankie not very happy today because he thought there would be ice down here to slide on, and there wasn't. The Abbey Mill cafe seemed to be doing brisk business though-two 'out -of-towners' asked us directions to it as we were strolling around.

This little guy seems to be around this tree quite a lot. You have to worry about the bird life once the weather gets colder- we had a baby ring -dove die in our garden today. It was on the bird table, and seemed to be in distress, then it was on the lawn, and crawled over to the rockery, where it layed it's head and made about an hours worth of wheezy noises, and when we came back outside later on, it was dead. I thought it might just be cold at first, so I covered it loosely with a tea towel, but it didn't recover, poor thing. It is laying in the back garden at the moment, covered with the tea towel.
The sun was just going down as we left today, and it was only 3 0'clock. Don't forget the sword fighting demo down here tomorrow!
